TSUKIGAMA AT TSURUGA-JO CASTLE’S RINKAKU TEA COTTAGE
Experience the tea ceremony culture of Aizu at this monthly tea ceremony. Sen Shōan, the son of the man renowned as founder of the modern tea ceremony, Sen no Rikyu, is closely connected to Aizu’s Rinkaku Tea Cottage. He passed away on September 7, 1614. To memorialize the day of his death, every 7th of the month from April through November (excluding October), the Aizu Tea Ceremony Society runs this tea ceremony event. This is an excellent chance to help continue the development of Aizu’s Tea Ceremony Culture while engaging with this unique form of Japanese culture.
The event takes place every 7th of the month from 10AM to 3PM from April to November (except October) at the Rinkaku Tea Cottage at Tsuruga-jo Castle. The price for adults is 1000 yen and for children is 800 yen, and includes the entrance fee to the tea cottage grounds.
