About AWIA

One of the primary missions of the International Association is to make Aizu Wakamatsu a comfortable place for its foreign population. We act as a resource for local residents, providing information on a wide range of subjects. If you have a question that needs an answer, contact us!

Monthly Newsletters

JUST THE FAX is an English information newsletter. It is distributed once a month by mail and email. Newsletters by mail can be sent to anywhere in the Aizu area. Emails can be sent to any email address.

Leisure Time in Aizu
If you are looking for information on sightseeing and recreation in the Aizu area, look no further. We have plenty of English information on sightseeing and history in this area.

Japanese Classes
If you like (or need) to study Japanese, we offer two sessions of Japanese classes per year, as well as special conversation classes.
The levels range from beginner to advanced.

Consulation for Foreigners and Locals
1. Translation and Interpretation Services
The AWIA provides translation and interpretation services. We provide translation and interpretation between the following languages: Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean. Please contact us for detailed information regarding prices, conditions, and other information.
*For those who require medical attention and need interpretation services to go to the hospital, please contact us.
2. Japanese Culture
Are you curious about Japanese customs? Are you looking to get involved with a group that does traditional Japanese activities such as martial arts? Stop in any time to ask us questions or how to contact people involved in traditional Japanese activities!
3. Introductions to Professional Organizations
While we offer counseling about daily life issues, we also have connections to professional organizations that can give counsel about other issues. Please contact us for more information.

Parking-Aizu Wakamatsu City Hall's parking is available
Parking Update: November 2011
When you come to the AWIA by car, we will give you a ticket for free parking. The tickets are valid at the Yamasho Parking Lot (山正パーキング, free for two hours) and the Shinmei Park 24 (神明パーク24, formally the Machi-tsukuri Parking Lot, free for 1 hour). We will hand you the ticket when you come, so please bring your parking ticket with you to the AWIA.
